With the high cost of make-up, skincare and hair care items, not to mention all of the varieties and “miracle promises” of products, trying cosmetic items for free, before you buy, is a great way to go.
There are multiple avenues to get free make-up and skin care samples. Here are tips on how and where to find them.
Department stores: Major department stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom’s and JCPenney’s, all have large, multi faceted beauty departments. They are usually split up by cosmetic brand and are hosted by one or two sales consultants. One way to get many different samples at once is to get a makeover. Many cosmetic sales counters offer them for free with no appointment necessary. Once your makeover is complete, that is the point where you can ask for samples of the products that were used for your makeover. I have done this many times and have even obtained a little gift bag of make-up samples that included foundation, lipstick, lip gloss, skin cream, makeup remover and more. As a side note, a free makeover is great thing to do before an event.
If a makeover is not up your alley, all that you need to do is simply say that you are looking for a new foundation or lipstick and would like to test colors, textures, etc. Most sales consultants are happy to help and will provide multiple free samples with a smile. After all, that’s why the samples are there – for you to try, so hopefully you buy. It’s an excellent marketing technique and a great perk for consumers.
Specialty stores: Specialty stores like Sephora, Origin’s, Avon and Bath and Body Works all offer numerous free samples as well. Sephora is an excellent place to not only try on any thing they sell (and they sell a lot of great and hard to find cosmetic items), but they also have little sample cups that they will fill with anything you want to try and they also have individual packaged samples of almost everything they sell, all you have to do is ask.
Individual Cosmetic Consultants: Avon, Mary Kay and other cosmetic companies that hire consultants to sell their products, are a great avenue for lots of free samples. You can simply Google something like “Mary Kay consultants + your city or zip code” and come up with a listing of many consultants close to your home. You can contact a local consultant to come to your home or meet at a central location. They will go over their product line with you and offer you samples of many of their products. They want you to become a regular customer, so they will also offer special deals like buy1 get 1 free offers which are a great way to get more for your money and we all are trying to do that.
Websites: You can go to any cosmetic brand’s direct website to see if they have special offers or promotions going on – many do and of course, you can visit freebie sites like mine, freebeezndealz.com to receive offers like free makeup, free perfume, free skin care items and more. It’s a nice way to get the freebies, because the search work is done for you and you just have to sit back and wait for the freebies to come in the mail. One important thing to note about freebie sites is you shouldn’t have to pay for a freebie. Ignore the sites that offer free samples, but say you have to buy something or do multiple actions before you get them, those are scam offers and will always be a waste of your time and money.
